The Weekend

Memorial weekend was a fantastic one.

Saturday was a busy day, had work and then my family and I headed over to Liesl and Justin's house for dinner.  She made Chicken Cordon Bleu and wow...it was amazing! It was fun to catch up with them and watch Matilda which we haven't seen since we were kids.

Liesl and my mom made a flower arrangement to put on my Grandparents grave.  We had some issues taking it back to our house in our car from their apartment because of how incredibly large it was, so then we used my idea: Let's take some of the flowers out.
                                           Genius idea.

My family decided to go put flowers on the grave a day before Memorial Day so that we could be in a less crowded environment.  So off to Morgan we went.

My sweet Grandparents: Ty and Marion.

They were so much a part of our childhood that we miss them more than anything.

The scenery in Morgan in unlike anywhere.  We were up here every weekend as kids and grew to love all of the open space and how you could see acres and acres of field with horses every direction you took.  Our Grandparents taught us to appreciate it as well and that simple things in life are the most beautiful things.

As for the actual MEMORIAL DAY, it was a great day spent with my family and also the McShinsky family filled with a BBQ, games, talking, playing with fire, and watching my very first episode of white collar.

There were never such devoted sisters

My family in unlike any other, and you know what?

                                  I love it.

My beautiful sister Liesl and her husband Justin.  If you told me to name and ideal couple, here is a perfect example.  Liesl is the kind of sister that can goof around with you but yet, she can be one of the most compassionate and caring people who can listen when you need an ear and can instantly cheer you up on a rainy day.  She has gone through so much and I consider her a role model of what an older sister should be.  Something that I admire most about her is her ability to forgive. Together her and her husband make the perfect match and until she was with him, I have never seen her so happy in her entire life. I love her and all that she stands for, I love her motherly qualities to us younger sisters and how she makes time to hear how we are or to come over and visit regardless of her schedule.  Love you Liesl Bee!

Ariel (on the right).  If I had to describe Ariel in one word, it would be elegant.  Ariel is unlike anyone I know.  As kids, her and I were always together and we shared everything from clothes to friends.  Ariel is a person who is determined in every aspect of life.  She has not had it easy and regardless of what trial follows her pathway, she lets nothing stop her.  She is a beautiful ballerina who can light up a stage.  Something that I admire most about Ariel is her work ethic and her sense of humor that I wish I could have even the smallest slice of. She is all about presentation and can make anything look beautiful and she makes the best crepes in the entire world! Love you Ariel Sue!

Kalinja (on the right) is unlike anyone.  I can honestly say that she is one of the most mature people for her age that I know of.  Kalinja, is loyal and honest in anything that she does.  She has a personality that beams up a room and she is genuine in every act.  She does ballet as well and is beyond stunning.  I love watching her grow into this stunning dancer who is determined to always do her best in dance, school, helping others and shows kindness wherever she goes. She is beyond intelligent! The kind of intelligent where she is a 4.0 student ever since I can remember. Although she is 4 years younger than me, I look up to her greatly.  Love you Bean!

Britt'e, the baby out of the 5 of us.  This girl is incredibly amazing at sports and is a fish in water.  Britt'e is the kind of person who not afraid to be different, to be who she is and not what others want her to be.  Something that I love most about Britt'e is her passion for life.  She enjoys every little moment and loves to be involved in many activities and is constantly wanting to improve.  I love that she and I can blast music in the car and sing incredibly loud.  She is growing into this amazing person and is driven to achieve her dreams and goals.  I love you Britt'e Bre!

20 Years Young

Two days ago was my birthday, and I finally turned 20.  "The big 2.0" as many people mentioned to me.  being 20 means no longer being a teenager.  As much as being a teen for 7 years was rough, it was a blast! I am so excited to see what many great adventures are brought into my path over this next year, a year older and wiser to? eh...

I was completely spoiled beyond belief for this birthday.

At 11:40pm on May 10, 2012
I receive a text message: "Go outside on your front porch."

Low and behold:

The Grape Basket

Mike knows that purple is my least favorite color.  I don't like anything grape "artificially flavored" Period.  So what does he do? He buys the following:
1. Grape Jelly
2. Purple Gloves
3. Cabbage?
4. Grape Red Vines
5. Purple little girl hair clips and a toy blow dryer
6. Purple socks,
7. Grape flavored protein bar
8. Grape Cool-Aid

                                         Delectable.

We planned to practice before we had our adventures for the day, that plan was completely flushed down the toilet, he says his excuse was valid, now I know why. He came to pick me up and then surprises me with:

 My favorite flower. Tulips

And then continued to come bearing gifts.

He sure is ridiculous!

Kneaders french toast and us going to different stores proceeded.  We bought a kite that we really did intend to go out and fly, but it was left in the truck.

My family has a great way to celebrate birthdays.  My mom plans a great dinner and we laugh and have so much fun.  After that, we open what we call "pigs" and after we have opened our gifts the birthday girl in our family gets to have a fashion show and try on everything.

We had to most delicious cake that my sister and my mom made and then, it was movie time! My sisters, mom, dad, Liesl's husband, and Mike all climbed in the car and headed to go see Mirror Mirror.  That is one tradition I will always continue to have in my family, going to see a movie on your birthday.

I love how even though I am 20 years old, I still get excited the night before my birthday before I go to bed. Family and loved ones make days like these so special and I couldn't have asked for anything better.
